This is our Annual "Give Thanks" event of the year - where we thank you for your support of BOMA Orlando!

Sherry Wheelock, President & CEO Special Olympics Florida

Since 2012, Sherry Wheelock has dedicated herself to improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities (ID). As President and CEO of Special Olympics Florida (SOFL), she has fought to ensure people with ID are treated with the respect and compassion everyone deserves. She has worked to build communities of inclusion and acceptance while providing life-enhancing opportunities for the athletes of Special Olympics Florida.

Under her leadership, the number of athletes served by SOFL has more than tripled and now exceeds 75,000. SOFL hosts some 300 events and competitions each year and provides athletes and their families critical health services and leadership programs – all free of charge.

With Ms. Wheelock at the helm, Special Olympics Florida earned Charity Navigator’s top honors for financial health and commitment to transparency 10 consecutive times. The coveted 4-star rating goes only to those organizations that demonstrate the highest standards of fiscal accountability, openness, and ethical practices. Just 6% of charities have received at least eight consecutive 4-star ratings.

Outside of her role as President and CEO, Ms. Wheelock serves as Chair of the Governor’s Commission for Volunteerism and Community Service. She also served on the Executive Board of Directors for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. Previously recognized in 2018 as one of the Orlando Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business, Ms. Wheelock was recently named one of Orlando Magazine’s Women of the Year.

Registration closes Friday, November 15, 2024 at 3 pm or when capacity is reached.

Cancellations received after registration deadline will not be refunded due to food & beverage guarantees already submitted. Substitutions may be permitted up to 24 hours prior to event.
