Want to be a judge for this year’s BOMA Orlando TOBY Awards?

This is a call for judges for the 2024 BOMA Orlando TOBY Awards. We need industry professionals to judge this year’s local entries.

The Outstanding Building of the Year Award (TOBY) is the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality in office buildings and awarding excellence in office building management. All facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly evaluated during the judging process, including tenant relations programs, community involvement, energy efficiency, emergency preparedness and security protocol, and continuing education for building personnel. Local judges will evaluate entries and score each building, measuring how well each entry meets the program’s criteria.

All BOMA Orlando members are eligible to be judges. We encourage all members to participate. No previous experience is required.

A TOBY awards judge must:

• Be unbiased, honest, and open minded
• Exhibit a desire to learn and critically evaluate materials as presented
• Provide honest, candid, and knowledgeable criticism – courteously and diplomatically

REQUIREMENTS – non negotiable:

A mandatory judges’ training session for all judges (new and experienced). Judges' training session will be offered twice this month; you must participate in one of these sessions.

Judging will take place the weeks of October 21 and October 28; exact schedule to be determined. 

Due to time limitations, only 2 buildings will be judged on a given day. Not all judges will be needed for the entire time period. The days needed for judging will be determined by the final number of building entries received.

Because we are required to use the BOMA International portal, there is an online judging portion that must also be completed for a building to be eligible. How to use the portal will be included in our training classes.

The call for judges will close 3 pm, Friday, September 20.

You will be notified the week of October 7 if you are selected to be a judge; your building assignment will be given then.
